The Faculty of Health and Medical Technologies held its Second International Conference on Medical and Health Specialisations under the slogan “Sustainable Health Innovations”. The conference was held on Saturday, 23 December 2023, in the University’s Central Conference Hall. Additionally, the said event was held under the auspices of H.E. Prof. Dr. N'eem Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the supervision of the General Secretariat of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, and with the follow-up of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, the University President.

The conference was attended by Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Shawi, representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President of Al-Nahrain University; Prof. Dr. Sabah Ibrahim Hammadi, President of the University of Fallujah; Prof. Dr. Hameeda Eidan, representative of the University of Karbala; and Prof. Dr. Maytham Hameed Al-Qanbar, Vice President for Scientific Affairs at Al-Ameed University, alongside a number of deans and academic staff from universities across Iraq and a large number of researchers from Iraq and abroad.

The second edition of the conference aimed to foster innovations that would enable new approaches to diagnosing and monitoring medical conditions, in addition to providing new pharmaceuticals and medical devices for the treatment of various diseases with the aim of achieving improved health outcomes. The conference also emphasised the need to enhance scientific research in the field of health and medical technologies in order to provide better services that respond to changing needs and expectations, while making effective use of and applying the research presented at the conference.

In her address, which followed that of the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Al-Sultani explained that Al-Zahraa University serves as a scientific and academic incubator for everyone pursuing a noble scientific objective aimed at advancing the scientific and academic movement in the country. She also expressed her appreciation for the General Secretariat of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine for its commitment and for the continued support provided by its Legitimate Overseer in contributing to the development of education and scientific research at the University.

The conference featured a number of activities, most notably a video presentation produced by the University’s Department of Media and Government Communication, highlighting the Faculty of Health and Medical Technologies’ most significant activities. This was followed by an address delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassan Hadi Al-Qazzaz, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medical Technologies, in which he discussed the faculty and its most significant human and scientific outputs.

The research and scientific sessions then commenced, resulting in a number of recommendations. Among the most significant was the emphasis on developing medical awareness and acquiring the latest knowledge in the field of health and medical technologies by highlighting the importance of scientific and cultural exchange among academics and universities, as well as gaining greater knowledge of modern methods, skills and expertise in the field.
