As part and parcel of the European visit programme undertaken by a delegation from Al-Zahraa University for Women, the delegation visited Warsaw University of Life Sciences in Poland.

The delegation comprised Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University, and Prof. Dr. Ali J'afar Al-Husseini, Director of Scientific Affairs. The visit was attended by Dr. Miqdad Al-Mandalawi, Chargé d’Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Warsaw, and Prof. Mohammed Al-Khaqani, First Secretary at the Iraqi Embassy. The delegation was received by Prof. Marta, Vice President for Scientific Affairs at Warsaw University, and the Vice President for International Relations.

Additionally, the visit aimed to discuss avenues for scientific cooperation between the two universities, particularly the establishment of a new department within the Faculty of Health and Medical Technologies specialising in Nutrition. The discussions also addressed scientific cooperation with the newly established Faculty of Information Technology Engineering at the University, to exchange expertise in curricula and keeping pace with technological developments in accordance with the global Bologna Process, which is endorsed by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under the leadership of H.E. Prof. Dr. N'eem Al-Aboudi.

The two parties also agreed to participate in the International Conference on Computers and Artificial Intelligence Applications, scheduled to be held in September of the following year.

For her part, Prof. Dr. Al-Sultani extended an official invitation to the President of Warsaw University to visit Iraq, particularly the city of Karbala Al-Hussein and Al-Zahraa University for Women, affiliated with Imam Hussein Holy Shrine.

The meeting concluded with the signing of an agreement with the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mikhail Sazadeh, aimed at sustaining mutual visits and cooperation to establish new academic departments that meet the needs of the Iraqi labour market.

It bears noting that Warsaw University is regarded as one of the leading and most prestigious universities in Poland, according to the 2010 and 2011 rankings. It was founded in 1816 and is recognised for combining a long-standing academic tradition with modern development.
