Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Husseini, Director of the Centre for Continuing Education and Scientific Affairs, and in the presence of H.E. Dr. Salih Al-Tamimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, and a slew of staff members of the Iraqi Embassy in Madrid, visited Complutense University of Madrid. The event aligns with the directions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and supports Al-Zahraa University for Women’s vision of establishing scientific and academic partnerships with international universities, with coordination by the Iraqi Embassy in Spain.

The delegation was received by Cristobal Roncero, Vice President for International Relations and Cooperation, and Maria Del Rosario, Director of International Agreements.

During the visit, the two universities discussed and agreed to establish scientific cooperation in the medical fields, linguistic studies in the Departments of Arabic and English Language, and mathematics-related sciences within the Faculty of Education. They also discussed coordination towards establishing future partnerships in the field of research centres.

It is worth noting that Complutense University is a prestigious public research university and one of the oldest universities in the world. It was founded in 1293 as the General Studies institution in Alcalá before being transformed into a university. Each year, it accommodates more than 86,000 students. The university also awarded the renowned physicist Albert Einstein an honorary doctorate, following which he held a position as a professor at a research institute affiliated with the Faculty of Sciences at the university.
