Under the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and marking Global Entrepreneurship Week, Al-Zahraa University for Women launched its activities for Global Entrepreneurship Week, held from 13–19 November 2023. The programme aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and scientific expertise, develop academic skills, and encourage female students to pursue innovation and entrepreneurship.

The activities were held under the auspices of H.E. Prof. Dr. N'eem Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University for Women. They were followed up by Prof. Dr. Zuhair Mohammed Ali Al-Asadi, Vice President for Scientific Affairs, and attended by a slew of deans, academics, researchers, and female students.

Furthermore, the said event comes as part and parcel of the Global Entrepreneurship Week programme, ZUW welcomed a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The opening programme, prepared by the scientific departments in cooperation with the Continuing Education Department, featured a diverse range of activities, including various dialogue seminars, workshops, and meetings addressing entrepreneurship and innovation.

The programme also included student activities and scientific exhibitions, including an exhibition showcasing entrepreneurial projects developed by ZUW female students. The Faculty of Pharmacy presented an activity involving the production of pharmaceutical food products, alongside a project for preparing plant-based medical products. The programme further featured training workshops on self-confidence, professional conduct, and work ethics, as well as a “Success Story” programme highlighting inspiring success stories of distinguished and successful figures from various fields.

For her part, Prof. Dr. Al-Sultani, stated that the presence of entrepreneurship within a society contributes to its development and facilitates positive change. She affirmed ZUW’s readiness to provide support and funding for such projects, while also commending the initiative launched by the Prime Minister to prepare university graduates for integration into the labour market.

It is noteworthy that, as the first University exclusively for women in Iraq, ZUW introduced the “Women’s Incubator” programme as part and parcel of Global Entrepreneurship Week. The programme featured a range of women-led entrepreneurial activities, including an exhibition of entrepreneurial projects, handicrafts, and various creative works.

Additionally, Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest celebration of entrepreneurship, organised by the Global Entrepreneurship Network. It is held simultaneously in more than 170 countries, with activities continuing throughout an entire week.
