Under the supervision of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla Al-Sultani, President of Al-Zahraa University for Women, participated in the International Conference on Women in Islam, held under the slogan “Status and Empowerment” at Princess Nourah University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 6 to 8 November 2023. Furthermore, the conference was attended by a broad international and ministerial representation. Additionally, the said event comes as part and parcel of the efforts of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine and Al-Zahraa University for Women to broaden avenues of cooperation with international universities and International organisations, particularly those concerned with women’s rights and leadership roles.

The conference addressed the status of women in light of developments taking place across the countries of the Islamic world, including women’s right to work, participation in public life, and marriage-related issues in some countries.

Prof. Dr. Al-Sultani delivered a speech highlighting the role of divine laws, particularly Islamic Sharia, in honouring women and granting them the status they deserve, as well as providing them with opportunities for education and intellectual development. She also noted that Islamic history is rich with the names of distinguished women whose contributions have endured through history.
