The College of Engineering and Information Technology hosted the academic architect Professor Dr. Mowaffaq Jawad Al-Taie, the college's guest of honour, in a scientific workshop titled 'Architecture Between Art and Engineering', held in collaboration with the Farshi Society and the Continuing Education Centre, in the presence of the college dean, Professor Dr. Ghaidaa Abdulhussein Al-Mulla, the scientific assistant to the university president, Professor Dr. Zuheir Mohammed Ali Jadoa, along with the staff of the Department of Architectural Engineering, teaching and administrative staff, and students. The workshop started with a speech from the college dean, welcoming the guest of honour and emphasising the importance of hosting specialised academic figures and providing students with the chance to benefit from their scientific and professional experiences. Dr. Al-Taie delivered his lecture across two main themes: the first discussed the relationship between art and engineering in shaping architectural vision, while the second reviewed the experience of the world-renowned Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid and her contributions to contemporary architecture. The workshop also included presentations of architectural applications and video clips on architecture in Karbala, highlighting its features and design trends, enriching the visual and practical knowledge of the students.

The workshop saw active participation from the female architecture students, who asked questions and engaged in scientific discussions with Dr Taai, who responded by sharing aspects of his experience and architectural vision. The guest also expressed his willingness to provide academic support to the department and its students, contributing his academic and professional expertise to help develop their skills. The workshop concluded with Dr Mowaffak Jawad Taai being honoured with the university shield, a certificate of appreciation, and a symbolic gift from the Holy Husseini Shrine, followed by a commemorative photograph to mark the occasion.
