Under the patronage of the President of the University, Zainab Al-Sultani, and under the supervision of the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Zuhair Mohammed Ali Jidou, the Department of Science and Technology Parks, in cooperation with the Colleges of Engineering, Information Technology, and Education, as well as the Continuing Education Center, organized a specialized online workshop entitled: “Modest and Sustainable Fashion – Unlocking Opportunities for Iraq in the Italian and European Union Markets.” This workshop was held as part of the university’s commitment to enhancing academic and professional openness to international experiences.

The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Iraqi Industrial Union and within the initiatives of the Italian Trade Promotion Office project affiliated with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The session aimed to introduce Iraqi designers to the opportunities available in European markets, while highlighting the latest global trends in modest and sustainable fashion, thereby contributing to the development of students’ and faculty members’ skills and aligning them with international market demands.

The workshop, which was conducted in English with simultaneous Arabic interpretation, witnessed remarkable engagement from female students, particularly from the Departments of Art Education and Digital Design Engineering. It provided them with the opportunity to explore new horizons in fashion design and production according to sustainability and innovation standards, enhancing their future prospects for entering global markets and reaffirming the university’s role in supporting qualitative initiatives with developmental and economic dimensions.
